Great Robotics Challenge – Conseil scolaire catholique Providence

On Thursday, March 9th, approximately 400 students from the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence will gather at Central Park Athletics to take part in Le Grand Défi Robotique 2017. This second annual “Great Robotics Challenge” will bring together Grade 7 and 8 students from all elementary schools in the Csc Providence in a friendly competition to build the highest-performing robot.

In Le Grand défi robotique, each team will build a robot out of LEGO EV3. The robots’ effectiveness will be tested in three competitions. By putting the robot through precise operations, the students will measure its precision, as well as the success of its programming and level of control by its student masters. Since the robots will do various tasks, the teams will be able to change their construction and programming between tests.

Prizes will be awarded based on the performance of the robots, the quality of documentation or reference material, and the presentation of the design process.

Le Grand défi robotique gives students in grades 7 and 8 the opportunity to show their creativity, ingenuity and perseverance. By the very nature of the challenges the students have to take on, this friendly competition encourages teamwork and ingenuity while introducing many students to engineering and technology.
